The 84-km-long Gendarme Path links Padborg on the Danish-German border to Skovby on the Danish island of Als. The path follows the former route running along the banks of Flensburg Fjord, where Danish border gendarmes patrolled from 1920 until 1958. The path follows the coast along most of its length, running through a varied landscape of forests, bogs and meadows.

The “Camino Haderslev Headland” route has borrowed its name from the world-renowned Camino de Santiago de Compostela pilgrim route, which, along with Ancient Road Hærvejen, runs through Haderslev. In this case, however, it’s approx. 100-km addition to the “real” Camino with the area’s nine churches making up points of reference.
